Namespaces Article Talk. So that is some perspective on Velvet Darkness They Fear. I am ever so grateful for that, but I myself admit I dont find this album as interesting as their other 3, at least not at this time. Also its not as crushingly delicate and beautiful as Aegis. Notably the synths have been replaced by an orchestra.

But the orchestra stay within a 'chamber' range of a few strings built off simple keyboard melodies. Occasionally the synths accompany with piano and organ and, on one song, harp patches. By no means is this album a huge classical opera. Its more of a sad play with musical accompaniment. Also the dramatic shifts in arrangements present on the debut are missing here.

There will be no long solo piano pieces, no instrumental metal tracks. All the songs are relatively the same in character. Its a modest effort really. Combine that with the reigned in guitars and listless, moody song structures In a way it is kind of unexciting. Though if the tone and character of one song hear really appeals to you, then the whole album will be a nonstop pleasure to listen to.

At the moment though I kind of wish it was more diverse in character. Still I'm going to give this album a five star rating. I think subtlety may be the key here, and I'm kind of glad that Velvet Darkness They Fear is not an exact replica of the self titled or Aegis.

It' gives the band more variety. Also again I have had since my teenage years to absorb their other albums. One very good thing though is the Old Engish Shakespearean lyrics are in full rosy bloom here! And they are so beautiful I have a tie-dyed longsleeve band shirt with this album's cover on it, and it is one of my most favorite shirts and I wear it to shows as a tribute to this now forgotten band and what they did for me.

I still have the rest of my life to enjoy this album, especially for all that it did to help create a space in this world where I could find who I am at heart and solace. As the band said themselves.. That these 3 albums will forever be, as well as the world and legacy they created in music and culture that carries on to this day.

I can't wait to love and grow old with this album Once in a while you find a life altering moment. In August , the band declared in an official statement [2] on their website that Liv Kristine was removed from the band's line-up due to "musical differences which could not be bridged". The band released their sixth studio album Storm on 24 March , and a European tour followed, with Gothminister as supporting act. The album's title song was released as a single on 24 February While still keeping on the industrial and electronic roots of the last two albums, the album showed a return to some of the sounds developed in their first albums.

On 2 October , Theatre of Tragedy celebrated their 15th anniversary. In December the band posted a snippet of new track "Frozen," which was expected to be on the new album, on their MySpace music page:. Things are slowly moving forward with the next album. As usual with the Theatre machinery there is many things [ sic ] to take into consideration when doing stuff and recently we were forced to change collaborators for the production of the album, and postpone the recordings.

Estimated release from AFM is end of September. Rumor has it that there will be a vinyl version for the diehard fans. We will keep you posted. Learn more about Amazon Prime.
